My journey in sport

After leaving collegiate swimming as a sprint swimmer, I found triathlon. I raced my first Ironman before I was old enough to drink a finish line beer and went on to race competitively for 4 years - competing in 3x Ironman world championship races and one season on the Zwift Academy Triathlon team (amateur development team) when suddenly my health took a wild turn.

I suffered a thyroid storm due to a heightened and prolonged state of stress on my body: high training load, improper / disordered fueling habits and various, unique complications around my autoimmune disorders (Graves and Hashimotos). It took 2 years and a lot of help to get my health back in alignment, during which time, I doubted I would be able compete in endurance sport again.

With the right team my corner, my health came around. I moved to Southern California for my job in the medical device industry and began hiking in my free time. Eventually, finding I could cover more ground if I ran. This spiraled into a love for trail running and experiencing life and the mountains on two feet.

I continued to develop this love for the trails through my pregnancy with my son (who is by far the greatest and coolest part of my life!) Together, he and I raced and won a small 30k race which is a memory I treasure. I now live in Bozeman Montana with my family which has been one of my favorite life chapters yet.

Since giving birth in 2021, I have been able to put together a few seasons of racing on the trails, coached by my best friend, Ryan Montgomery. I have enjoyed learning about myself through this vehicle of long distance running and wish to pursue this sport at the highest level.
